Biography

Pearl A. Sequeira has a global and Third Culture Child background,  and now lives as a settler in Tkaronto/ Toronto, Canada. As a child, she grew up learning that careers in visual arts were not  economically and culturally  valued, and for years, stuck to doodles and stick figures on the margins of paper. Artistic approach

I am a self-directed abstract outsider artist. My work is an on-going exploration of the complexity of identity and connection, and an on-going exploration of how communities of The Global Majority might reclaim space and create new narratives of being. I integrate colour and texture, to make conceptual and thought-provocative acrylic and mixed media paintings. My artwork is deeply influenced by stories of beauty found in nature, arts and people.
