This painting is a semi-abstracted expression of human kindness. We all have something in common - the human experience. A compassionate act is one of the most fundamentally human gifts one can give to another. Just as the earth gives to us bountifully there is the capacity, in us, to give the gift of compassion in abundance to others. This scene is based on that moment of hesitation or indecision, before one decides to act with compassion or to turn a blind eye. Seeing the connection between acting with true kindness to others, to ourselves and to our environment is something that is often overlooked. One begets the other.
