Hailing from Ajax, Ontario, Katie moved to the city of Montéal, Québec, where she received her Bachelors degree at Concordia University in Art Education. Finishing her degree in 2015, Katie has since been active in different communities and exhibitions across Canada, The United States and China. Katie works out of a community centre in Montréal as an art instructor which has brought her to China multiple times to teach workshops, paint murals and give artist talks. Katie’s proudest moment to date is joining a group show in New York City at ‘The Cotton Candy Machine’ and selling her exhibited piece. Katie is thrilled at where her art can take her and whenever she is taking trips will find walls or places to make street art leaving her creative mark.

I am a multidisciplinary artist working with fantastical, magical, science fiction and psychedelic ideas. I will work primarily with painting and drawing materials but you will also notice I love to collect objects and magazines to create collages and mixed media sculptures. I adore the use of narratives within my work. My inspiration when starting a piece often arises from a desire for pretending and story telling. The stories I create are based on personal journey’s of survival on Earth but the imagery and colours are out of this world. My works frequently play with the ideas of duality, overwhelm, adulthood vs childhood and the travels in-between and back and forth. I am using the unpredictable tales that life throws at us for an overwhelming inspirational tool.
