"Openings" is a series of paintings that were inspired by the ongoing view of a building refurbishment across from my studio. Considering the spaces where windows or doors would be added, the views from the exterior to the interior and through, brought those ideas to my series. "distortions by distance" was the second of a series of five, and talks about what we perceive to be available to us emotionally and how attainable that may or may not be to us. As the figures grow closer, we close those gaps and open up to new possibilities.
