This is an elegant and whimsical diptych, comprised of 2 small 10" h x 10" w x 1.5" d paintings placed side-by-side to create a larger overall coastal landscape. They are inspired by the beauty and ever-changing sea and sky along the Vancouver/PNW coastal area. Placed together, they measure 10" h x 20" w x 1.5" d, not accounting for any space you might wish to allow between the paintings. As an artist, I find great beauty in the sublime, ceaseless movement of the clouds and waves, and how the weather and light affects the way we perceive the landscape. This piece captures an array of green, blue, purple, yellow and neutral colours, and is textural, layered and full of movement. In areas, the paint is applied very thinly to mimic watercolour, but it is actually created using acrylic paint (and a few chalk pastel and graphite elements) throughout. These pieces are painted with a dark indigo blue-black on the sides, and are finished with gloss varnish to seal and protect the works. They are signed, dated and titled on the back. 1/2 and 2/2. The pieces are wired and ready-to-hang.
