Biography

John's official Korean name is Joon Woo. He started painting at a young age, but his strengths in mathematics and physics led him to pursuing mechanical engineering. During his time studying mechanical engineering, he specialized in carbon fiber. He uses carbon fiber as his canvas and incorporates it in all of his work. Carbon fiber is his signature material as it represents his passion for performance materials.

Artistic approach

I incorporate carbon fiber into all of my work. It represents who I am as a person, an engineer, and an artist. I take one of the most technologically advanced human-made materials and make it functionally useless. The epoxy that holds the carbon fibers together allow me to experiment with creating art with materials other than paint.
