I am an ex-Southern California artist relocated to Vermont a few years ago, favoring landscape and abstract art. You can see symbolic references to prominent impressionist painters of the 19th century and their artistic vision in my own art. Most of my paintings are mixed acrylic/oil. Although my paintings lack conventional detail, they are explicit in what they convey. Capturing the California and now the Vermont light is extremely important to me, as I think that it is only here you can find all the shades of green and blue that I try to render. Reinterpreting a landscape through vibrant color and intensity and capturing the essence of a memory and mood is of utmost importance to me.

The painted glass series represent an important step back to my roots, in a physical and mythical sense. It is an almost lost folk art of my native country. Most of the reverse paintings represent icons or biblical scenes. My work needs to reveal, learn, adapt and many times, modernize and abstracticize the subject. I purposely try to use old, single pane barn windows, so that tradition is truly kept, in terms of technique and materials. What a beautiful combination of Romanian and Vermont history! From here on I advance to smaller, abstract paintings, where I started to introduce the gold leaf painting technique.

Going back and getting inspired by nature is the main idea in my art. I try to keep fluid and try new techniques, be influenced by new moods and create new objects, whether it’s in paint, fiber, glass or ceramic. I’d fancy myself as being categorized as somebody who experimented with new techniques in her art continuously, and learned as she created.
