Darlene est née à Montréal et a étudié à l'Université Concordia, où elle a obtenu un B.F.A., avec une spécialisation en conception graphique. Elle a passé les 40 années suivantes à développer une carrière réussie dans le monde des affaires. Cependant, elle a reconnu qu'il était temps de revenir à son art. En 2005, Darlene a commencé à travailler à la création d'une vocation et d'une entreprise, en peinturant pendant le temps libre que lui laissait sa carrière à temps plein. Elle participait également à des expositions quand elle le pouvait. En 2012, Darlene Hassall est devenue une artiste à temps plein. Elle s'est diversifiée et a exposé ses œuvres dans les régions de l'Ontario, du Québec, du Canada et de l'Italie.  Son travail a été présenté dans le magazine Style At Home. Le magazine Arabella a fait un article sur ses œuvres en 2022. Elle s'est également rendue au Mexique pour superviser l'accrochage de certaines de ses œuvres.
Darlene a siégé au conseil d'administration et au comité exécutif de groupes artistiques locaux. Elle fait partie du programme Art in the School du Dufferin Arts Council. Elle a également été jurée pour des œuvres d'art. Darlene a joué un rôle clé dans la création d'un groupe de critiques dans la région afin d'aider les artistes canadiens à développer ou à améliorer leurs compétences en matière d'évaluation de leur travail et de celui des autres.
Elle a eu l'honneur d'étudier avec de grands artistes canadiens et a été invitée à étudier à l'École internationale d'art d'Umbria, en Italie.

Darlene was born in Montreal and attended Concordia University, graduating with a B.F.A, major in Graphic Design. She spent the next 40 years developing a successful career in business. However she recognized it was time to turn back to her art, so in 2005 Darlene began to work towards creating both a vocation and business, painting in whatever spare time she had from her full time career. Also entering Shows whenever she could. In 2012 Darlene Hassall became a full time artist. She has branched out, showing her work in areas of Ontario, Quebec, Canada and Italy.  Her work has been featured in Style At Home Magazine. Arabella Magazine did a feature article on her works in 2022. She has also travelled to Mexico to supervise the hanging of some of her works.

Darlene has sat on the Board and Executive Committees of local art groups. She is part of the Art in the School Program with Dufferin Arts Council. She has also assisted in jurying. Darlene played a key role in the formation of a critique group in the area in order to help fellow Canadian artists develop or enhance their skills in evaluating their work, and the work of others.
She has been honoured to have studied with some great Canadian artists and was invited to study at the International School of Art in Umbria Italy.
