Anh Thư is an oil painter whose art delves into personal trauma and emotional complexity, exploring themes of insecurity and identity-loss. Starting her professional artistic journey right at 18, Anh Thư’s work is characterized by rich textures, evocative imagery and a raw, introspective quality that invites viewers to connect with their own inner struggles. Each painting tells a story, reflecting not only the artist’s journey but also universal experiences of vulnerability and resilience - capturing the attention of local art communities, leading to exhibitions in various galleries. Beyond exhibitions, Anh Thư remains active in her creative journey, currently working on a series of 15 oil paintings for submission to an art university in South Korea. 

My artistic approach is deeply rooted in emotional storytelling and the exploration of the human condition - particularly that of a young Vietnamese woman who struggles with societal expectations, culture-loss and personal/national identity. I strive to find a balance between abstraction and realism, often incorporating symbolic elements to evoke introspection and connection. Working primarily with oil on canvas, i use textures, colors and layers to express my personal experiences and emotions, which i translate into visual form that hopefully, offers a space where others (specifically young women of this generation) can reflect on their own stories.
