I have always known art to be something that is a part of me, rather than seeing it as something that I do. This is what keeps my hands in a wide range of mediums as there are so many ways to create, and there is an endless stream of inspiration that can be tapped into and felt at all times. I love to draw, paint, photograph, sew, dye, create clothing, make prints and create pottery. I love the balance that can be created with fine art and craft, and enjoy switching roles for each. I have studied all of these mediums at Bealart in London Ontario, as well as NSCAD University in Nova Scotia, with a heavy interest in Fabric design.

I create all of my work with an inspiration that comes from nature. Whether I’m painting or fabric dyeing, I love to recreate the essence of repeating patterns that nature provides so effortlessly. Nature at its core is a feeling of beauty rather than the thought of it, and with my artwork I aim to create that feeling that connects us to this place. Painting allows me to exercise my meticulous side by allowing me to focus in detail, where as with my dye work, the exact imagery is organic and I allow it to surprise me with its final outcome. I Use a bundle dye method with natural dyes which creates textures and patterns that vary depending on how the fabric reacts to the steps in the process, so it is possible to attain an idea of how the piece may look, but the outcome will always have a surprise element. Similar to cycles and patterns in nature.
