Born and raised in South Africa, Trish lives in the Comox Valley where her practice is often inspired and informed by the natural environment to be found on Vancouver Island. Her concern for the human condition is often reflected in her interdisciplinary work, blurring boundaries between sculpture, ceramics, drawing, photography, painting and life. She is interested in people and finds inspiration in the resilience of human nature. As an Interdisciplinary artist and Ecologist she has been exhibiting her work in South Africa and Canada since 1977. She studied Fine Arts through East London School of Art, South Africa, North Island College Fine Arts, Comox, Canada and graduated with a BFA through Emily Carr University, Vancouver, Canada.

I am an interdisciplinary artist with a diverse and varied approach to my work. I have a passion for creating organic sculptural pieces from wood, as well as surrealistic and abstracted paintings in oil. My artistic practice is research-based and I strive to build portfolios with purpose. Currently, I am exploring coastlines through photography, capturing the beauty of nature and its environmental challenges. I also find inspiration on forest and mountain trails, bringing my experiences back to the studio to express through my art. My strong foundation in life drawing is evident in my large portfolio of expressive figurative works on paper and linen, which informs my organic figurative sculptural pieces.
