Born & raised in Temagami and now lives in Burlington, ON with her husband and their 2 children.  A member of the Nbisiing Anishinaabeg of the Robinson Huron Treaty Territory. Sarah hold's a B.Sc. in Human Genetics and M.Sc. in Biochemistry & Developmental Biology and currently work for the cell therapy company BlueRock Therapeutics who's focus is treating patients with Parkinson's Disease, Heart Failure and Ocular Degeneration.

Although I have no formal artistic training, I have been artistic since childhood where I loved drawing faces in elementary school and began experimenting with painting in high school. I began painting again in 2020 with a more therapeutic interest.

To date, I have had two showcases of my art at a small gallery in my hometown, Living Temagami and during Truth & Reconciliation Day at the Burlington Mall. I have entered 4 smaller paper-pieces into auctions which raised a combined $2000 in donations for charitable organizations such as The Toronto Fire Department Toy Drive and the Daily Bread Food Bank. My current portfolio consists of 14 canvases and 4 paper pieces. I have a small online presence on Instagram @sarahlaronde.

The Woodlands art style of Norval Morriseau has been my main inspiration for getting back to creating art. His paintings have given me so much joy and peace, especially when I see them up close. His perfect creations of completely imperfect technique and brush strokes are absolutely beautiful and reminds me that nothing has to be perfect in this life to create something beautiful. Through his work and the many wonderful artists in the Laronde family, I am inspired to learn more about my own Canadian Indigenous culture which I can share with my own children and teach them about the spiritual significance of animals, plants, our environment and current struggles of Canadian Indigenous peoples.
