Patrick Beauclair was born in Ottawa in 1993. He started his studies when he was 4 years old at the National Gallery of Canada's Childrens' Program. In 2016 he graduated from Sheridan College near Toronto with a Bachelor's of Applied Arts in Illustration and a DEC in Fine Arts. After graduating he moved back to his home town of Aylmer, Quebec and began studying tattooing. He has been working in the tattoo industry for 6 years now, using painting as a supplement in between clientele. 

My paintings are mostly figurative, in the imaginative realist style with perhaps a few surrealist elements thrown in the mix if I'm in the mood. In my works I like to explore Romanticism, Academicism and Symbolism, and although the subjects of my pieces are generally nude or loosely draped, I prefer the drama of the scene to be what captures the viewer rather than any sort of perceived eroticism. On the occasion that the figures are posed more provocatively, my hope is that sexuality takes a backseat to more prevalent themes such as punishment, lament, and the struggle between genders. Sexuality therefore becomes necessary for division, and my reasoning for painting figures in the nude is simply to make this division more blatant.
