Née à Trois-Rivières, Marie Danielle Leblanc vit et travaille à Montréal depuis 1990. Titulaire d'un baccalauréat en arts visuels de l'Université du Québec à Montréal, elle a réalisé plusieurs oeuvres au moyen de techniques variées telles que la peinture, la sérigraphie, l’imagerie numérique et la photographie. Active dans son milieu, l’artiste a présenté une trentaine d’expositions individuelles et a participé à plus d’une cinquantaine d'expositions collectives. Ses œuvres ont été exposées dans plusieurs galeries à Montréal, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Paris, New Delhi, Sydney. De plus, elle a participé à plusieurs foires d’Art Internationale New York, Miami, Amsterdam, Hambourg, Stockholm, Milan, Londres, Barcelone, Bruxelles, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore,Seoul et Tokyo.

Son travail de peinture reçoit le premier prix au Salon 2010 de Paris ainsi qu’au Festival d’art de Montréal en 2006. Marie Danielle Leblanc est choisie artiste en résidence, elle obtient alors une bourse de création à l’atelier de l’île de Val-David (Québec). Plusieurs de ses œuvres se retrouvent dans des collections publiques et privées, illustrent également les pochettes de livres parus aux éditions du Boréal, aux éditions Québec-Amérique ainsi qu'aux éditions du Renouveau pédagogique et font partie de scènes cinématographiques.

Marie-Danielle Leblanc is a Canadian artist. She has been living and working in Montréal, Quebec since 1990. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal and has created works of art using various techniques such as painting, screen printing, digital imaging and photography. She has participated in thirty solo exhibitions and more than fifty group exhibitions. Her work has been shown in several galleries in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Paris, Sydney as well as in many International Art fairs, New York, Miami, London, Milan, Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Stockholm, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul and Tokyo. She received the first prize at the Salon 2010 in Paris for the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts as well as at the Montreal Art Festival, she also received a grant from the "Atelier de l'île de Val-David" (Quebec). My love of place and travel are at the root of my work. My travel diary is essential to my process, and is my steady companion wherever I go. Somewhere between a sketchbook, a journal, and a memory book, it is where I draw, write my thoughts, note of the names of the places I go and the people I meet, record the weather, the light, and the time of day. I include photos, textures and images of everything that catches my eye. Whether I am driving on the highway, hiking in the mountains, walking on never-ending beaches, or climbing mammoth rocks by the sea, I gather specific details and deep-felt impressions, my touchstones for the poetic interpretations I will later create in my studio.
Home again, I immerse myself in my memories. I begin to paint the broad stokes of the spirit of each place. As I contemplate the colours, light, lines and energy of a particular location, the specifics begin to fall away until often, it is simply the horizon, the vastness of nature or a solitary tree that continues to resonate, that becomes the focal point of my experience. Working with encaustic ( bees wax / damar resine ) and dry pigments on wild cherry wood, I release the vibrant energies of nature through my choice of colours and the physicality of my process. Layered with encaustic medium, my works celebrate the luminous qualities of water, earth and sky, field and forest, landscape and nature. A tree bursting with life, the peacefulness of the horizon in a seascape, or flowers that appear to be dancing in a meadow – each painting becomes a meditation on the limitless beauty of the natural world.

Beyond the factual, beyond the particular, my works grow out of my visceral response to each location compelling me to explore even further – to deepen my connection to my process, the materials I use, my relationship to the world, and my place in it as adventurer and artist.
