Delmati Art was set up because of my passion for painting (specially in acrylic). I am originally from Venezuela and based in Montreal since 1998. Since 1991 I begun to take paintings courses in Ecuador and here in Canada, I have been also in many courses looking for new techniques. I have been able to explore and develop painting techniques using acrylic, textures, colors, collage and epoxy. I am also have worked with oil, pen, and aquarelle. I explore the process of art creation through my work. I have exposed my paintings in Laval, Saint-Bruno, as well as different places in Montreal. Painting is an outlet where I get to express different emotions.

I start my paintings creating images in my mind. From there, I begin my process first with a background of different colours then with the image and then with every tool that I feel is right and give harmony to my creation. My subjects are mostly women, maybe because my mom is the person most representative of strength that I know. I work by instinct, my mind decides at the moment what my hand is going to make ... My style has changed from drawing with pen, to oil, aquarelle until I married with the acrylic. But I sill continue exploring new styles and trying to learn new techniques. I don’t paint series, I prefer to paint what I really feel at the moment, and it can be a woman’s face or any abstract image that passes through my head. Inspiration comes to me in different ways, maybe when I see a face with distinctive features or when I imagine a combination of colours. I look for inspiration also as a photographer, or when I read a book and imagine how could each person or place be like.
From my early works, there has been a change in my paintings. In the beginning I used to paint more landscapes and inanimate things like flowers, etc. Now I find more inspiration in faces or abstracts.
I don’t have rules when I paint. I like to be free and paint whatever I feel is right for me. I try to mix techniques and textures, anything that make me feel happy.
I feel alive when I paint, that moment is for me and just for me, I feel that I am free to do whatever I want. I don’t like to repeat myself, that’s the reason that I am so motivated when I begin a new painting. For me art is being myself, is capturing what I feel and put it in the canvas. It’s being honest and authentic.
In summary, I just try to combine the beauty of women as a symbol of strength, the splendor of our mother nature, to express harmony and peace through Zen philosophy and imagination in the abstract. It doesn’t matter if it’s abstract or figurative, when beauty is what really matters. . I just want people to feel what I feel, that’s my goal and my satisfaction.
