Biography

Cynthia has been painting for over 35 years since studying art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Growing up in a small village along the coast and being close to the ocean led her to a deep connection with and love of nature. Cynthia continues to explore and express the beauty of nature through drawing and painting.

Artistic approach

Nature is my inspiration - the common theme running through all my artwork. I often start a painting with a loose, gestural pencil drawing, then ink, followed by oil paint. Some of my paintings are in other mediums such as acrylic, watercolour and encaustic (painting with beeswax). I am fascinated by landscapes and figures in the landscape.
