My name is Mercedesz Domahidy. I’m a self-thought Calgary artist.
I was born and raised in Hungary.
In February 2000 I started to work on Cruise ship and my travel around the world journey has begun.
I spent 5 years working on Cruise ships moast of the time sailing the beautiful Caribbean Sea.
I also lived in Ireland for 2 years and 6 years on Lazerote one of the Canary island before I settled in Calgary.
Hiking in the Canadian Rockies , discovering frozen waterfalls in wintertime, boating on the turquoise lakes during summertime and all the other memories of the places I visited in the past, giving me great inspiration whenever I create my art.
Since I was little I always had a passion for painting and drawing. Art was my favourite subject at school.
In the past few years I pursued my passion and started to paint again.
I discovered Fluid art in 2018 and I fell in love this technique instantly.
To create my artwork I use Acrylic paint,Resin, different type of materials and pouring mediums.
All of my artwork is original and unique, they are finished with protective varnish or resin to preserve them.

I had several tragic events in my life which paralyzed me emotionally every time. Most of the times it took me months, sometimes even years to recover. These periods of my life disturbed me mentally and emotionally so much that I couldn’t feel creative. 

The sadness and depression were so deep in my heart that, I could not think about picking up my paint brushes and create something. 

But, every time I saw something beautiful, a colorful picture or artwork, or just surrounded myself with the beauty of nature, I felt better, happier. This made me realize if I want to get over my depression, I need beauty around me. So, I made a promise to myself: I will never give up creating colorful artworks which beauty may influence other people’s feelings and hopefully even help them to get over their sadness, make them feel happy and uplifted every time they lay their eyes on them. 

For this reason, before I create anything, I think about the happy moments of my life. The journeys I had the opportunity to take, all the countries I lived in, places I visited while working on board of several cruise ships and the summer and winter hikes We take with my husband in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

The dear memories of these places and all the pictures in my mind giving me endless inspiration and the freedom of expression.

My dream is to become a professional, fulltime artist who never loses the passion to create something amazing.
