Willow Gagné is a French-Canadian analog photographer. 
Born and raised in downtown Québec City, he has always been drawn to the raw energy of urban life. 

His choice to work with film photography began early in his artistic journey. While studying visual arts in college, he fell in love with the viscerally textured rendering of reality that analog photography offers: the grain, the light, and the countless opportunities for failure — and beautiful mistakes. The complexity of this medium has always fascinated him.

That's why he transformed his closet and bathroom into a homemade darkroom, where he began developing his own black-and-white photos.
His creative process is meandering; he lets his eye settle on the best of the worst parts of cities like Québec, Montréal, and occasionally Percé and Caraquet, New Brunswick.

He also works with people from time to time in a more portrait-oriented way.
When commissioned, he is often asked for artistic, kinky, and highly unique sessions.

My practice is rooted in the city and everything it has to offer — especially the tension between what's conventionally beautiful and what my eyes find in the mundane.
I love graffiti and quirky, forgotten objects left behind on the streets of old towns. Architecture fascinates me too, especially when paired with stunning natural light. When I shoot portraits, what I love most is vulnerability, artistic presentation, unique props to play with, and the chance to witness empowering moments. I love human beings so much that I want to ensure everyone enjoys the experience and feels free to love themselves as they deserve. But my number one muse is — and always will be — the streets. I love the concept of the photowalk, and my practice is deeply rooted in wandering.
