The day I was born, my mother noticed just one thing—my dimple, which she lovingly called my birthmark. Soon after, she became ill, and my older sister stepped into both mother and guardian, caring for her as we lived in Kingston, Jamaica. When the time came, my family emigrated to Canada, choosing universal healthcare over uncertainty. My father found work as an engineer at North York Branson Hospital, and from that moment, we were on a journey searching for healing. 

I grew up in Ontario’s hospital system—part patient, part staff. By 15, I was already climbing through ducts at Chapters, Indigo, and Coles across Canada, small and agile enough to help my father build networks. At North York General, working as a unit clerk opened my eyes to the realities of hospitals—the fragility of life, the resilience of people, and the urgency of care. 

In the midst of all this, Dr. Salsberg, a physician and naturopath, gave me a philosophy I carry to this day: “Prescriptions are for the terminally ill and the elderly. Everyone else deserves naturopathy.” Around this time, I also discovered gardening, working with a family who nurtured lakefront communities. Gardening became my healer, my balance, my way to keep moving forward when grief came knocking with the loss of my mother. 

From soil to canvas, nature and art intertwined in my life. Gardening keeps me rooted; art lets me release. When I paint, I begin in anger but finish in peace—that cycle is my therapy. My work reflects silent moments I cannot say out loud, fragments of memory and emotion reshaped into something others can feel. 

Each piece is a recapturing of my past, a glimpse of my journey. My art and writing are not just about beauty—they are about survival, healing, and expression.

Growing up gardening I have always love nature and art. Through nature, I have always loved the naturalistic look of the world. Art has evolved in my life through anger. When painting, I am very angry. But before completion, I become happy again. This is my process when creating art. 

Art is my own way of expressing myself artistically. By expressing my feelings into my artwork. With the use of imagination; I try to present moments in my life and try to create what I feel.
Usually when I am mad; I know that I need to express something through art. My overall vision is to express through nature and silent moments in time that I  can never express through talking. I hope my audience will understand what I was feeling as I was creating these pieces. My current work will be recaptioning of my past. My old work is just things I generally liked and wanted to express. 

I only hope to get better and better as my story unfolds.
