This piece is a semi-abstracted coastal seascape, and is richly textured with bold, unabashed brushstrokes to convey a sense of movement and energy. This painting is inspired by the beauty of British Columbia's PNW coastline and the stormy, turbulent skies that often loom above Vancouver. As an artist, I am incredible inspired by the feeling of introspection I get from viewing and painting this type of scenery: It reminds me how Nature is always moving, always changing; and that we, as humans, occupy only a brief moment, moving in time, on this planet. This motivates me to try live each day to the fullest, and to actively savour the journey called "Life." This painting is created on 1.5" deep gallery stretched canvas, is finished with high-gloss varnish, and is painted in a dark blue hue on the sides. The coarse sea salt used for texture in the sky is clearly visible, and is a nod to the painterly, human-made quality of the piece. It's titled, dated and signed on the back.
