While Christie has always been passionate about art, and abstract art in particular, she considers her artistic influences to be derived more from film and music than through other abstract artists. I’ve always appreciated artists who are a product of their time. Whether it’s the unsympathetic rebellion of seventies punk music, or the street spirit graffiti artists of the eighties, I try and integrate all of it into my paintings. I want my art to look like how music sounds, or at least, how music makes you feel.


Though always a passionate artist with a firm sense of what she is trying to accomplish, Christie likes the more free form approach to art. ’I consider myself to be an instinctual painter’ says Christie ’I rarely have any preconceived notions before I start on a piece, only extremely vague ideas. Vague ideas that I not only expect, but hope, will change as the painting progresses.’
