C. Foster enjoys creating representational landscapes and florals in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, using expressive color and light... sprinkled with a touch of abstraction and whimsy. 
 
 Growing up in Winnipeg- home to the  Canadian prairies and spending summers near Kenora, Ontario, Chris was able to enjoy landscapes that offer a kaleidoscope of color and extraordinary light.  This native land, combined with travels around the world, has become her source of inspiration for her painting catalog.

 Je me considère comme un peintre figuratif abstrait à 70 %. Cela signifie que....si je peins un arbre... vous saurez que c'est un arbre... ce sera peut-être un arbre violet et jaune, mais vous saurez que c'est un arbre ! Je ne me vois pas entrer en compétition avec un appareil photo et je m'intéresse bien plus à l'évocation d'une ambiance.... souvent légère et fantaisiste.
 
 Les 30 % restants relèvent d'une esthétique totalement différente, impliquant le travail au pinceau et le papier de riz ! Je ne me souviens pas d'une époque où je n'ai pas aimé les fleurs et les influences asiatiques ! Je suis attirée par les belles couleurs et même dans mes paysages, j'ajoute souvent un travail au trait que l'on retrouve souvent dans l'art chinois et japonais. 

I consider myself a 70% abstract representational painter. What that means is....if I paint a tree...you’ll know its a tree...it may be a purple and yellow tree but you’ll know its a tree! I don’t see myself ever competing with a camera and am far more interested in evoking a mood....often light-hearted and whimsical.

The other 30% is an entirely different aesthetic involving brush work and rice paper! I can’t remember a time when I haven’t loved flowers and Asian influences! I am drawn to beautiful colours and even in my landscapes - I will often add in line work that is often found in Chinese and Japanese art.
