Guinean born and raised, my name is Aissa and I am a self-taught multidisciplinary artist living in Montreal. I work mainly in mixed media such as digital illustration, printmaking, and acrylic painting and nowadays I started including iron wire art in my creation. I refuse to claim one specific style as I find myself in all of them. I mainly draw black woman as I feel, that as a black woman myself, there is still a lack of representation of our reality and fight for our feminism. Using bold colors, African fabrics patterns, textured hair design is my way of infusing empowering messages for self-love, self-care and mostly taking control of your own narrative.
